Alex Rowe
About
Singing soul into the world
To date Alex Rowe has operated as Arowe since 2009 when she won a place in the then artist mentorship program run in Victoria by The Push, the program gave her the opportunity to record and release her first single Deaf Silence nationally through Mushroom publishing on the compilation Album Naked in the Woods. The program also allowed Arowe to perform alongside Katy Steele (Little Birdy), Jen Cloher (The Endless Sea).
Arowe is known for her solo soul roots tunes reminiscent of Jeff Buckley with neo-soul voicing akin to Erykah Badu. Her music bridges jazz to acoustic soul and gospel to flamenco often lending her voice to collaborate with other artists. Most notable as seen in her 2015 music video of her song with Able 8 and Che Steer Dear Lonely.
Having relocated to the Gold Coast in 2017 after completing studies at JMC in Brisbane in Entertainment Business management. Previously a graduate of the BA in music industry at RMIT 2011.
Her 2016 digital release F U was to set a tone for an expectant Album still to be completed.
Arowe has made a strong fanbase in her birth city over the years through her solo shows and as a backing vocalist for other acts such as Candice Monique and the Optics, Direct Influence, Run for your Life, Hiatus kaiyote, Stellafauna, ladi Abundance, Quashani Bhad.
Most recently her collaboration as a featured singer for Autero, a Melbourne based bass music producer, saw her sing live their 2010 single Sufi Dub and two other unreleased singles as-an support for NZ’S Opiuo Orchestra to a full room at Melbourne's Forum theatre in November 2018.
With a few local house concerts under her belt, Arowe is yet to relaunch with the new band line up onto the Gold Coast Music scene where she now works as a musician and talent developer.
